Abbrevs

As a society, we can know that things are bad when they get abbreviated. K-fed (Kevin Federline), Greys (Greys anatomy), etc. If something is not worthy of having its whole name pronounced than there is a problem.

Music

What it is about increasing numbers of people that make the quality of music decrease. When you listen to music alone, it is great. You put on some classic rock and relax. It gets a bit worse when you are with a few friends and you feel obligated to put on some Dave or some OAR. But by the time the circle of listeners has elevated to a party then gansta rap is all that will be found. Perhaps it helps establish street cred. All I know is that the quality of music is inversely proportional to the number of people listening.

Introductions

At the movies the other night, I had an interesting experience with introductions. I was there with two friends and one of them saw a very close friend and approached. Schooled in proper manners my friend, of course, introduced us to his friend. And his friend, taking the hint, introduced his two friends to mine. But what was abundantly clear was that we were not going to be introduced to my friend's friend's friends. There were three degrees of separation that were not going to be overcome, and nobody asked any questions.

Sinks

I wash my hands a few times a day. People have been doing the same for I am going to say 100 years since they invented the sink. Maybe its a thousand years but I don't feel like going to Wikipedia right now. It has been a long time and they still don't understand the basic principles of sink construction dynamics.

I just attempted to wash my hands in a beautiful marble basin but was stymied because the water nozzle was right up against the back of the sink. This necesitated putting my hands right up against the back wall of the sink, touching it. Who knows where that sink has been. There was at least 10-12 inches of sink into which the nozzle could have extended but it chose to protrude no more than 2 centimeters into the basin proper.

Needless to say it was quite vexing.
